Of course, when we found out about Baby M, one of my first thoughts was....BABYMOON! Ok, maybe not my first thought, but given that we love to travel, and it will be a lot more difficult after the baby gets here, I really wanted to take one last trip somewhere special to celebrate our duo, which would soon become a trio.
Well, as this blog can attest...after trips to France, Germany, Chicago, and many work trips, we just ran out of time...and getting on a plane for fun started to not seem so fun at all. So....we decided to go somewhere driving distance, since we do happen to live in one of the most desireable vacation spots...the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
So, we sent Trigger to doggie daycare, and off we went to Beaufort, SC. Beaufort is a beautiful little town on the water, about halfway between Charleston and Savannah. The town actually has a storied history, much like most of this region, as this area thrived before the onset of the Civil War and resulting damage to this area. We walked all over town, had some great meals, and simply relaxed. It wasn't anywhere exotic, but it was exactly what we were both hoping for - a chance to just be together. At 33 weeks, I was oh so lucky to be able to still walk around and be comfortable...and we had a lovely weekend.
On the way back, we stopped to check out the beautiful Sheldon Church ruins, which reside very close to our Le Creuset distribution center. It's not often that you come across the remains of a church built in 1757 in this country, but they were worth the stop.
